Get Morphit

You can “install” a Morphit instance on your device with an “app” icon, or run your own node via the source code below and get it auto-listed in the Federation directory so you can start earning from it.

Source code & mirrors

Morphit is 100% free and open source. The canonical repository lives on our own Forgejo server and is mirrored across the web, so the code stays reachable even if one host is blocked or disappears.

Why 20 mirrors?

The IPNS link resolves the latest release peer-to-peer, with no DNS and no third party — it needs an IPFS-capable browser (like Brave) or a local IPFS node. In any other browser, the IPFS link works everywhere. You can also copy the permanent address into your own node:

ipns://k51qzi5uqu5dgkxmhwchxq4f9yiggxqyine7ang3xdz1ohmwc8csya1sqtcicf/

Run your own Morphit instance

Anyone can run a Morphit node — your own brand, your own users, your own fee revenue. The federation finds you automatically.

Supported systems

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is the best-tested choice, and the one-command installer also accepts its derivatives — it reads the Ubuntu 'noble' base, so the edition doesn't matter: Linux Mint 22, Pop!_OS, Zorin OS 17, KDE neon, and elementary OS all work. Debian 12+ and hardened-Debian bases like Kicksecure work via the manual setup steps — both make excellent lean, security-focused servers. Any modern Linux with Node.js 22+ and Postgres 15+ should run it (Arch, Alpine, NixOS — you're more on your own there); FreeBSD works with minor adjustments. Hardware: any 2-core ARM64 or x86-64 machine with 4 GB RAM and 80 GB SSD — most operators run on a Raspberry Pi 4, an Intel mini-PC, or a spare laptop.
